Marking and Etching

Avicenna excels in laser marking materials that have proven difficult to mark with conventional printing and embossing methods. Avicenna is able to laser mark without ablation, meaning the surface of the marked material is undisturbed. Our laser marks are permanently imbedded in the material so there is no danger of marks transferring, smearing, or leaching.

Avicenna’s marking process produces alphanumeric text of any height, width, and thickness. We mix bold and regular fonts in the same line of text, and we sequence serialized text from one line to the next. Avicenna laser marks linear barcodes, data matrices, and detailed company logos on small challenging surfaces. Our laser etching process is similar to our marking technology, yet purposefully distinct. The process differs from marking in that it is applied with no resulting color change. Etching is a process comparable to engraving in which letters, numbers, or symbols are created transparently by removing material from the component part. The result of precision etching is a permanent, distinct tone-on-tone effect that transforms a particular medium into a template for vital product information.
